Daily Journal Time
Time to start putting things down, hopefully inspiring, mostly mundane.
Week started off with some scary events. Had a colonoscopy after putting it off for too many years. Thankfully, I'm clean. Then, visited doc with Nancy as she has a kidney cyst, but everything has checked out fine.
Got an award from Cornerstone Students on the Northwest Campus. Providing them with some technology that will hopefully cut down on the cost of education, and provide more rapid access to instructional content. Nice to be recognized.
Today - meetings on prepping for national consultants, and looking at possibility of swapping out our main administrative systems. Always busy.
Had a good walk this evening in the neighborhood. Came back to see a new species of bird visiting the feeders. That's 15 species so far this month....
That's it for now, will see how well I keep this up...

Update, after a few months.
Started the weight loss attempt a few months ago. After a good start, got sidetracked with some work travel and a trip to Vegas. Now, back to the grind, a new job which keeps me off the road. This time last week I was back to my start weight of 218. Today, glad to say I'm at 208.
Start weight = 218
Current weight = 208
Weight Loss = 10 lbs.

Week 1 Results
Small changes = small results.
Started my regimen last Monday, and in the past week have noted enough success to keep me interested in continuing the process.
Changes are small, less intrusive, and involve cutting out second helpings and eating less when I'm on the road, and trying to get in 3 workouts a week.
So, with those few changes, the past week has been a success.
Starting Weight = 218
Current Weight = 213
Lost so far = 5 lbs.
Tune in next week.....

Start of Week 1
I decided to embark on the journey, but will keep the goal under wraps for now, no sense putting any additional pressure on myself.
Going to try to lose some weight, regain some strength, and increase cardio capacity. Will spend most of the workout time at our community fitness center, and will try to keep the momentum going on the road. Nancy and the girls will be workout partners, as time and schedules permit.
We started yesterday, did 2 miles on the elliptical, 200 pushups with weighted resistance, and a few other circuit machines.
Starting weight: 218
Goal weight: 190
Below is the latest pic of me, taken with my immediate family. Will update with progress pics as the time goes by.
Wish me luck.....

Starting Over
Looking in the mirror over the past year or so has not been a happy experience.
I've become fat.
I've become lazy.
At 52, I don't have many chances left to savor the wonderful machine that God gave me, particularly if I keep treating it like a garbage can.
So, it is cliche' time.
Time to cut the fat.
Time to kick it into gear.
Put my nose to the grindstone.
Pull up my sleeves.
Put my back into it.
Slap me twice and call me Susie.
Punch the doggies.
Drop everything.
Take up the slack.
Pull my weight.
Tote the barge.
Lift the bail.
Shit or get off the pot.
Put up or shut up.
Decorate the mahogany.
Give it 110 percent.
Go for the gusto.
Take the bull by the horns.
Plop. Plop. Fizz. Fizz.
Time to make the donuts.
To not send a boy to do a man's job.
To wish upon a star.
To dream the impossible dream.
To go where no man has gone before.
In other words, I need a goal, something on the horizon that will make me want to lose weight and get in shape.
I think I've found it, but I have to do a little more investigation. Undertakings of this grand nature take resources, and a plan must be formulated, and the family consulted. And, most importantly, my willpower must be measured. For if I progress down such a path, failure cannot be tolerated.
More to come on the subject......

Full House....
But just for a couple of days. Maddie and Caroline returned from tour, tired but ready to get back to school. Erin has been busy getting set up for grad school, and her internship, plus she's working 30 hours a week.

Crusaders in Annapolis
Nancy is in Baltimore for business this week and next, and was able to take some family and friends to the Drum Corps International show in Annapolis. She was able to drop off some Bergers Cookies (made and sold only in Baltimore) as a treat for the corps, and had a chance to talk briefly with Maddie and Caroline after their performance. See the pic below, click on it for full size.

BAC Breaks Camp
The Crusaders go on the road today, and we found out last night that Caroline will have a place in the show. Maddie had already secured a full spot, and Caroline worked hard to get a shared spot in her rookie campaign. Here are recent pics from the last couple days. Click on the pic to see the full size.

Recent Pics of Girls with BAC
Maddie and Caroline are in the middle of spring training for the Crusaders. So far, the only pics I've seen of them are when they are in the food line..... Well, at least we know they are eating well. These two pics are from this past weekend. Click on the pic to see the larger version.

Erin's Graduation
Erin received her Honors College Medallion and Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree on April 30th. She put in a lot of hard work, and completed her thesis. We are all very proud of her. She has been accepted to Florida State University's graduate school where she will begin studying for her Master's degree in Social Work in the fall.

Winterguard Competition
Maddie and Caroline perform on the Hagerty High School Altitude Blue Winterguard. The school is only 4 years old, and the band and guard staff have been great in working with the kids to help them evolve in their skills and performances.
This is the first year for the "junior" guard (Altitude Silver) and they have been progressing each competition and came in 2nd in their class last week.
Altitude Blue has really come along, and has finished first in their class the past 3 competitions. We are really proud of Caroline and Maddie, their hard work is evident. See the video of the last performance in the video below.
