Insomnia

Well, for the past 3 months, it seems like I just can't fall asleep before 2am. No matter what I do during the day, exercise, read boring books, count sheep, you name it, I'm awake.

Health is ok, the kids are doing good, job is doing great, everything seems fine, but I just can't sleep. I want to blame the constant ringing in my right ear, but I've had that tinnitus for over 5 years now, and I've gotten used to it.

Is this just a symptom of getting older? Don't know, I'm not preoccupied with my mortality, I've actually had a really good life compared to so many others (ants come immediately to mind, it must really suck to be an ant). I'm not stressing over anything, so what is keeping me awake??

Any home remedies out there? Who knows, maybe I'm going through man-o-pause and this is the price I have to pay.

Don't want to wander down the pharmaceutical road, don't want to get hooked. Have tried melatonin, with mixed results. Also tried NyQuil, which works, but the dreams that come are too vivid and too strange (think Clockwork Orange integrated into Fantasia) to continue.

So, goodnight. I'm wandering back to bed.... Hopefully I'll get a few winks....

Tim,

Nyquill works for us, but only the store brand. Walmart (equate) seems to work well. I can go to sleep alright, but wake up about every hour. I don't take much, but is sure does help me sleep through the night.

Sorry about your troubles...no sleep or constipation. One or the other is awful - both are really bad. Getting old ain't for sissys!!!
